Roe Park

If you’re planning on taking the family to Roe Park, make sure to pack your bags for a day of fun and set aside time to draw out a game plan. The park is located at 10400 Roe in Overland Park, Kansas 66207 so your first step is determining what path you’ll take and what mode of transportation you’ll use to get there. After arriving at the park, it’s only right that you find a nice place to sit and eat with your family before you exert your energy doing all the other fun activities you have planned for the day. To help plan your day, follow some of the tips outlined below.

Roe Park is a 40 acre green space that is in Overland Park. With over 83 parks in the area that Overland Park encompasses, it’s impossible to know the history behind each one. The total amount of land all 83 of these parks take up is 996 acres which is bigger than New York City’s Central Park and about the same size as 750 football fields. Roe Park is one of three parks in Overland containing wet spaces for children to play in so they can cool off when it’s hot outside.

The park has many features and amenities to keep you busy and entertained throughout the day. In addition to the splash pad, Roe Park has baseball and softball fields that are available for reservations. This is a great place to rent out for your child’s baseball or softball league practices or if you just want to toss a ball around, the fields can be played on through a first-come, first-serve basis. Make sure the field you play on isn’t reserved or continue playing until someone comes with a reservation.

Maybe baseball and softball aren’t your thing. That is ok because when you visit Roe Park, there is a giant open field space used for any other recreational activity you might want to indulge in. Bring a soccer ball and kick it around with your friends, or field hockey might be your sport of choice. Whatever it is, if it can be played on a field, it can be played at Roe Park.

If you ride your bike to the park, but aren’t interested in continuing to ride it, there are several bike parking stations located throughout the park. Don’t forget to bring a lock to ensure the protection of your bike. Also, if you happen to forget your water bottle after an exhausting trek to the park, take a drink from one of the water fountains provided by the park. There is also a grill, a playground, and picnic tables for when you’re wanting to cook out for all your friends and family.

If you’re looking to just take a stroll, or do wish to continue exploring the area on your bike, there are plenty of hiking and biking trails you can go down. Fitness is something some people live for, so if that is your thing, make sure to check out what kind of fitness equipment is located in the park and get your pump on.
