The Ensor Park & Museum is a unique educational experience for the whole family. The museum is located at 18995 W 183rd St, Olathe, KS 66062. In 1965, Marshall Ensor, a local educator, retired and decided to turn his hobby into a museum. He organized a variety of vintage tools, antique radio gear, and handcrafted furnishings into attractive displays. He wanted his visitors to experience life in the country back then, as well as see what it was like to live in the early 1900’s. The Ensor family were farmers, and the home and farm was full of special archives. They raised cows, calves, and horses and learned many skills, including milking cattle.
The museum is open Saturdays and Sundays during the months of September and October. It is free to visit, but donations are welcome. The Santa Fe Trails Amateur Radio Club conducts the tours and holds a Field Day at the Ensor Farmhouse in June. The Santa Fe Trails Amateur Radio club took over the role of docents at the Ensor Park & Museum in 2007 and now leads tours and exhibits in the historic mansion.
